Supporting Learners with Dyslexia: Dyslexia Gold
At Brighton Hill Community School, we are committed to making success inevitable for every student. We recognise that learners develop at different rates and that, with the right support, every young person can thrive academically and confidently. As part of this commitment, we use Dyslexia Gold, an evidence-informed digital learning platform designed to support students with dyslexia and literacy difficulties.
What is Dyslexia Gold?
Dyslexia Gold is a structured, engaging online programme that helps students improve core literacy skills, including reading, spelling and phonics. Through carefully sequenced activities and adaptive technology, it identifies individual gaps in learning and provides targeted practice in a way that builds confidence and independence.
The programme includes:
- Structured phonics development to improve decoding and word recognition
- Spelling and overlearning strategies to support long-term retention
- Personalised pathways, adapting to each student’s strengths and areas for development
- Engaging game-based learning that motivates students and reduces anxiety around literacy
How it supports our students
In line with our ethos, Dyslexia Gold allows us to remove barriers and create conditions where success is not just possible, it is inevitable.
- Personalised learning ensures that every student works at the right level, reinforcing our belief that all learners can succeed when learning is appropriately tailored.
- Building confidence is central to the programme; small, consistent successes help students develop a positive self-image as learners.
- Independent practice empowers students to take ownership of their progress, strengthening resilience and self-regulation.
- Consistency and structure provide the repetition and reinforcement needed for lasting improvement.
Our commitment
We do not see dyslexia as a limitation, but as a difference that requires the right support and understanding. Dyslexia Gold is one of the ways we ensure that:
- every student has access to high-quality, inclusive learning
- barriers to achievement are identified and addressed early
- success is planned, supported and sustained
Through the combination of expert teaching, targeted intervention and our unwavering belief in every learner, we continue to deliver on our commitment to making success inevitable.
