Biodiversity at BHCS!
.jpeg)
Biodiversity is the verity of all living things on Earth, including the different plants, animals, fungi and microorganisms, as well as the ecosystems they form and the genetic variations within species.
We already have evidence of biodiversity in action around our school, such as re-purposing unused school equipment to create planters (such as these disused lockers below):

However, the health of the biodiversity in our world is rapidly declining and affecting our quality of life. As a team, we have therefore decided to fight back against this decline and are planning a few ideas to make sure we win!
Here are a few of our (award-winning, in my opinion!) ideas:
- We are planning to plant protected flower beds around our school site which we will commit to maintaining.
- We plan to present an assembly to our students about bees, their importance and how we help them.
- We hope to plant more trees around our school to not only support biodiversity but also celebrate the importance of the planet.
- Finally, we are planning to continue our participation in annual, nationally recognised campaigns like No Mow May.
These are just a few of the ways we aim to help our school and our wider community thrive!
