Year 8

Welcome to Year 8

Year 8 is an exciting and important stage in each student’s journey at Brighton Hill Community School. Building on the foundations of Year 7, students are now encouraged to take greater ownership of their learning, embrace new challenges, and continue developing the independence and confidence that will carry them through the rest of their school career.

Throughout Year 8, we place a strong emphasis on our cornerstones of Collaboration, Courage, Kindness, and Commitment, helping every student to grow both academically and personally. We want our young people to feel supported, valued, and motivated to give their best in everything they do—making success not just possible, but inevitable.

This year also marks the beginning of an exciting stage in each student’s academic journey. In the spring term, students will take part in a guided choices process, where they will begin to explore subjects that reflect their interests, talents, and ambitions. These guided choices will shape their Key Stage 4 curriculum, helping them to plan ahead and make informed decisions about the next stage of their education. Our staff, tutors, and the pastoral team will provide advice and support throughout, ensuring every student makes choices that suit their strengths and future aspirations.

We look forward to another successful and rewarding year—one filled with learning, growth, and achievement for all our Year 8 students.
