Pastoral
At Brighton Hill Community School, we believe that every student deserves to feel known, supported, and inspired to achieve their very best. Our pastoral system is at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that each young person is cared for as an individual and empowered to thrive both academically and personally. Guided by our mission of Making Success Inevitable, we work together to create an inclusive, nurturing environment where every student can develop confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.
Our pastoral approach is built upon our four cornerstones: Collaboration, Courage, Kindness and Commitment. These values shape daily life in our school and underpin all interactions between students, staff, and families. We encourage collaboration through teamwork and mutual respect; courage through perseverance and self-belief; kindness through empathy and understanding; and commitment through hard work and determination. Together, these principles make success not just a goal—but an expectation.
The pastoral team plays a vital role in supporting students as they navigate their school journey. Each year group is led by a dedicated Head of Year, who oversees the academic progress, wellbeing, and personal development of every student in their care. Working closely with tutors, teachers, and parents, they ensure that no child is left behind and that all are encouraged to fulfil their potential.
Our Heads of Year:
- Year 7: Miss G. Arundale
- Year 8: Mr P. Colmer
- Year 9: Mr R. Onioms
- Year 10: Miss V. Mercer
- Year 11: Mr R. Slack
Through consistent care, communication, and celebration of achievement, our pastoral team helps make Brighton Hill Community School a place where success truly is inevitable—academically, socially, and emotionally.
