EAL Admissions support
When a space becomes available, it is offered to the child at the top of the waiting list at that particular time. When this is the case, the parent and child are invited to a pre-calendared induction meeting with the Head of Year.
If you and / or your child have English as an additional language (EAL) and require additional support during the induction meeting (e.g. for translation / communication), please let Mrs. Cameron (our admissions officer) know when she makes initial contact with you.
We can provide translation support if required during both the induction meeting and / or any specific resources related to the admission to BHCS.
Similarly, when EAL students join us at the school, their English is assessed and an EAL level assigned to the students. Subject teachers are then provided with relevant advice to ensure high quality EAL based support in lessons.
Finally, we do work with EMTAS (Ehtnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service) to support our families in ongoing communication with the school; again, please let us know if this is needed.
