Digital Learning
At Brighton Hill Community School, we believe that technology should enhance teaching, support every learner, and strengthen the connection between school and home. Our digital strategy is designed to integrate technology seamlessly into everyday learning, helping students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need for the modern world.
We use a carefully chosen range of digital tools to enrich lessons, personalise learning, improve communication, and ensure that all students can succeed. This page introduces how we use digital technology across the school. Further sections will provide more detailed guidance on each specific platform and tool.
Our Approach to Digital Learning
Our approach is built around five key principles:
• Enhancing learning experiences through engaging and interactive lessons
• Supporting all learners, including those with additional needs
• Developing strong digital literacy and online safety skills
• Improving communication between school and home
• Ensuring a safe and secure digital environment for all users
How Technology Supports Your Child's Learning
High-quality teaching and learning
Teachers use digital platforms and classroom technology to present information clearly, model ideas effectively, and provide immediate feedback. Interactive tools help keep students engaged and allow teachers to check understanding in real time.
Access to learning anytime
Online platforms allow students to access resources, homework and revision materials both in school and at home. This helps students to take greater ownership of their learning and revisit key content when needed.
Support for different learning needs
We use a range of digital tools to support students with different needs, including those with SEND. These tools can help with reading, writing, organisation and exam access arrangements.
Developing digital skills
Students learn how to use technology safely, responsibly and effectively. These digital skills are embedded across subjects and are essential for further education and future careers.
Engaging and interactive experiences
Technology allows us to create more interactive lessons, including quizzes, multimedia resources and, where appropriate, immersive experiences. This helps to increase motivation and deepen understanding.
Strong communication with parents
Parents and carers can access key information about their child's progress, attendance and school life through our digital system MCAS - My Child At School. This ensures you are informed and able to support learning at home.
Keeping students safe online
We prioritise online safety. Students are taught how to stay safe online, and robust systems are in place to protect data and ensure secure use of technology across the school. Our 'Online Safety at Home' page and our 'Safeguarding Blog' are fantastic resource centres to support parents and guardians.
